“Thank You for Supporting Bashas Today”.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Bashas, it is a local grocery store that has been in the Phoenix metropolitan area for many years.  They have always been very active in our community and are very generous with donations to worthy causes.  In fact, one of my first “grown up” jobs was at Bashas.  Many moons ago – I was a cashier at a store in Mesa, AZ.

The other day, as I was trying to avoid the drive through fast food restaurants during lunch time (no fries, no fries, no fries), I drove past a Bashas and decided to stop in and grab something to eat from the deli. Well, even here, I probably could have made better food choices, but that is not my point today.

After I paid the cashier, he said to me, “thank you for supporting Bashas today”.  He didn’t say, “thank you for shopping at Bashas”, he said “thank you for supporting Bashas”.  And it hit me.  These days, making a choice to shop at a local business, choose to purchase a service or buy goods from a networking partner – is more important than ever.

Bashas has always been very active in our community and very generous with donations to worthy causes. Maybe, buying from local folks, spending our hard earned dollars with people in our sphere, people in our network, people who offer the best that they can, is something we really need to stop and think about.  Thank you for your support.
